Key West Tarpon Migration

Report Date: May 1, 2018

The tarpon migration is in full force around Key West and the lower Florida Keys. Plenty of fish swimming on the ocean side flats , as well as the backcountry gulf side. Early morning is always a safe bet for those days when the tarpon or the weather decide to not cooperate.
The bonefish and permit fishing has been quite good as well. Although, this is the word amongs others guide around town. For my customer right now, it’s all about the tarpon. Fly anglers like tarpon seem to migrate south each spring in search of the silver king. Not a better shallow water sport fish on the planet. Fly casting or spin fishing, the tarpon won’t disappoint.
