tarpon extravaganza

Report Date: May 20, 2011

So here we are now, most of the way through the 3 month tarpon blitz. All I can say, is that this has been a very interesting season. Going outside the box of standard tricks to get the job done. I fished lots of different spots this year for tarpon. Not new spots to me, just different. Fishing to get the job done. The migratory fish came through in different places, so you had to keep changing it up. This technique didnt work so well for those guides that just go to a spot on the ocean side flat and sit and wait for the fish to come pouring through. Because the fish might not show up. I found if you kept moving you could have great fishing, you just had to work a bit harder. We captured lots of tarpon and expect the rest of the month will finish strong, with plenty of fish around. We had a good worm hatch in May. Giving my fly fishing customers a few fun evenings of fishing.
Glad to have this morning off.
Time to catch up on the non fishing side of guiding.
